On the 14th of October 2018 the GFG Triathlon Team took part in the 4th Triathlon De Bandol. Our team was composed of two members of GFG Monaco (Cédric GILLES and Anthony MIRARCHI) and one guest (Gilles RUBIO).
Around 400 persons were on the starting list with 370 individuals and 335 finishers and a total of 38 teams.
The schedule of the day was the following one:
At 8:40AM Anthony MIRARCHI jumped into the water and swum 2 000 meters. He finished his swimming after 38 minutes, allowing the team to reach the 10th position.
It was then time for our Guest to work on his bike. The journey was particularly difficult, with 97 kilometers and 1400 D+. Transition between Anthony and Gilles was very fast and after 2 hours and 55 minutes of cycling our team was placed in the 2nd position, 3 minutes and 35 seconds behind the first team.
Finally, it was Cédric GILLES’s time to shine with his blue shoes of the color of GFG. The running track was also very difficult, composed of 3 laps with in the end more than 20 kilometers and 300 D+ between rocks, trees, roots, stairs, big climbs and beaches.
Even though Cédric started with a 3mn30 delay compared to the head of the race, he was only 18 seconds late after the first lap. Given he was now comfortable with the track, the 2nd lap was even easier for him; in fact, he reached the leader very fast, exchanged a few words with him and accelerated to win the race. At the end of the 2nd lap, our follower was around 3mn20 late. The last lap was even faster and Cédric finished the race 8 minutes before the second team.
We are sure that the GFG team will remember this day as a nice moment that they shared. Congratulations to them for this great performance!
